Concept
The program follows the guidelines of SCMR to enable fellows achieving levels 1 and 2 comptency. We do our best however to tailor the program to individual needs considering areas of strength and previous experience. This is achieved through the "one to one"- teaching which ensures that fellows get the opportunity to freely interact in every learning module- whether the theoretical, the hands-on or image evaluation.
Setting: high throughput clinical CMR service (about 60 cases/week) for both in and outpatients with indications covering a wide range of clinical settings.
We provide two types of courses:
Fellowships: 1 month or 3 months. The courses should enable the fellow obtaining level 1 and level 2 CMR competency (ACC/CMR) respectively.
The program comprises:
Program contents
-Didactic course: these are weekly lectures following the SCMR curriculum covering the technical and clinical aspects of CMR image evaluation and interpretation: after a thorough demonstration of image evaluation and report writing basic skills, fellows will have the chance to independently perform the analysis and reporting of a large number of examinations covering a wide range of clinical indications. At the end of the day, every examination and clinical report of the fellow will be intensively discussed aiming at optimizing the evaluation, interpretation and report-writing skills.
-Observation at scanner
-Course work: including access to a variety of on- and off-line learning, as well as discussion of selected CMR ‘highlight’ papers.
CMR modules: the 1 week modules are intended for fellows with previous knowledge in CMR who wish to gain a focused insight or to refresh their experience in one or more areas of CMR, such as:
- CMR of myocardial ischemia
-viability assessment
-cardiomyopthies and myocarditis
-CMR assessment of valves and flow
The center has recently acquired a cutting edge dual source CT for coronary imaging (about 16 cases/week). Special arrangements can be made to accomodate a combined CMR/CTA fellowship.
